Surviving a divorce or break up - Checklist

If you find yourself in a position where you are going through a divorce and breakup it can be very overwhelming. Here is a list of things to consider. I hope you find it useful!

Emotional Well-being 🌈

Allow Yourself to Grieve 😒: It’s normal to feel a range of emotions such as sadness, anger, and confusion. Give yourself permission to experience these feelings.

Seek Support πŸ—£οΈ: Talk to friends, family, or a coach about your feelings. Sharing your thoughts can be so helpful.

Self-care 🧘: Engage in activities that make you feel good and help you relax. Exercise, hobbies, and mindfulness practices like meditation can be beneficial

Practical Matters 🏑

Living Arrangements πŸ›‹οΈ: If you lived together, you need to decide who will move out and how to divide shared expenses.

Shared Finances πŸ’³: Close joint accounts and separate your finances. Ensure you both agree on how to handle shared debts or assets.

Personal Belongings πŸ“¦: Divide your belongings amicably. Make a list of what belongs to whom and work out a fair exchange.

Social and Lifestyle Adjustments 🌍

Social Media πŸ“±: Consider how you want to handle your social media presence regarding your ex. You might want to unfollow or mute them to give yourself space to heal.

New Routine πŸ•’: Establish a new routine that doesn’t revolve around your ex. Fill your time with activities that you enjoy and that fulfill you.

Reconnecting with Friends πŸ‘₯: Spend time with friends and family who support you. Reconnect with people you may have lost touch with.

Mental Health πŸ’–

A Coach πŸ›‹οΈ: Consider seeing a coach who can help you process your emotions and develop coping strategies.

Healthy Coping Mechanisms 🌿: Avoid unhealthy behaviors like excessive drinking or isolating yourself. Instead, focus on positive outlets for your emotions.

Journaling πŸ“: Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you process the breakup and gain clarity.

Future Planning πŸš€

Reflection 🧐: Reflect on the relationship to understand what worked and what didn’t. This can provide valuable insights for your future relationships.

Goals 🎯: Set personal goals and focus on your individual growth. This can be a good time to pursue new interests or career aspirations.

Open Mindset 🌟: Stay open to new possibilities and experiences. Breakups, while painful, can also be a time for personal reinvention and growth.

Remember that healing takes time, and it’s okay to take things one day at a time. Reach out to your support network and take steps to care for yourself both emotionally and physically. πŸ’ͺ❀️
